About JARNet

The Japan-Austria Researcher Network (JARNet) connects Japanese researchers and researchers with ties to Japan, especially those working in Austria, across a broad range of fields such as the natural sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences, music, and the arts. The network is member-led and sustained by voluntary contributions from people across institutions and career stages.

Guiding Principles

JARNet aims to create a practical foundation for research exchange and mutual support across national borders and academic fields. We see the network as a platform linking academics, culture, and society, guided by three principles.

  1. Connect

    We create spaces where researchers can meet across disciplines, institutions, and career stages. Informal encounters often lead to new questions, collaborations, and research ideas, and we want to make room for those moments.

  2. Share

    We exchange experience and practical information that can support research and day-to-day life in Austria, including funding opportunities, calls, institutional systems, research environments, and everyday know-how.

  3. Co-create

    We help ideas that emerge through connection and exchange grow into concrete forms such as collaborative projects, researcher mobility, and joint presentations. As a network linking Japan and Austria, we encourage cross-disciplinary work and new forms of value creation.

  • Updates on funding opportunities, institutional systems, and other research-related information
